NESTLÉ DEVELOPMENTAL NUTRITION PLAN (NDNP)™

The NESTLÉ DEVELOPMENTAL NUTRITION PLAN (NDNP)™ is a nutritional approach drawn up by Nestlé to guide parents in their child’s food diversification.
This nutritional programme is based on the child’s development. It takes into account:
1. Psychomotor and sensory progress.
2. Changes in physiological needs.
3. Changes in digestive abilities.

Stage 1: Gentle first food

It's time to introduce cereals into your child's menu.

The World Health Organisation recommends exclusive breastfeeding during your child’s first 6 months and continued breastfeeding for as long as possible. As babies grow at different paces, health professionals should advise you on the appropriate time to start on complementary foods.

Stage 2: New tastes

It’s time to try some new tastes… like different kinds of puréed foods and infant cereals (with fruits and vegetables). Your child can now swallow something more solid. Her digestive system has developed, her stomach is growing larger and her system is less fragile. At 6 months, your child is beginning to push forward, hold toys firmly and look for them when they’re misplaced.

Stage 3: Richer tastes and textures

Your child can’t get enough variety of flavours? Then she is moving in the right direction – both physically and nutritionally. Now that she can consume meat and fish, it’s time to introduce her to a few new tastes.

Stage 4: Ready to try more!

Your child is ready for more. More tastes, more variety, more recipes! Now it’s time to try some fruits, beans and salads. Your child is climbing the nutritional ladder. What incredible progress!
